In His teachings, the Buddha praised the virtuous act of building and restoring temples, stupas (places of offering), and living quarters for the Sangha (spiritual community) as a source of immense merit.

Therefore, the accumulation of this merit is not only the cause to attain excellent health, wealth, a beautiful and majestic form in this life, but also the seed to achieve Nirvana or the state of perfect Buddhahood.

In a spiritual song, the Great Mahasiddha Milarepa (1040-1123) taught:

The yogi meditating in the rocky cave And the benefactor offering sustenance Both rely on each other to achieve Buddhahood The essence of this interdependence is dedication.
